1
Wait!   (60′s beat)   3:15
Play Part  -   Play Full  -   Song Page

In the 1970s I played guitar in a band called OUTRAGE which was based in Dublin. We played a lot of Beatles songs. In fact our Egyptian singer sang with a Liverpool accent despite the fact of growing up in Egypt. I had also grown up on Beatles songs so naturally enough, I wrote a few 60's beat songs. This is one of them.

2
Although You′re Gone   (pop)   4:08
Play Part  -   Play Full  -   Song Page

This song is about a lovely elderly neighbour of mine in Saula, Achill Island, Mayo, Ireland - Catherine McNulty - who died in 1998. She was a kind and friendly neighbour. I have very fond memories of her. The song really says it all.

3
Achill Island   (pop - rock)   3:49
Play Part  -   Play Full  -   Song Page

This song began as a slow air in the early 1970s but changed to an up tempo song in the 1990s. For years I could never get suitable lyrics until I moved to live in Achill Island, Mayo, Ireland in the early 1990s. Then everything fell into place.

4
Rainy Day   (folk pop)   3:01
Play Part  -   Play Full  -   Song Page

An 'acoustic' song with harmony - very easy listening. Yet another 'negative' song. Sad songs are much more fun! I normally don't write 'folk' type songs but this one is a favourite of mine. Very melodic.

5
The Hooley   (celtic rock)   4:29
Play Part  -   Play Full  -   Song Page

Don't be fooled by the vocal start - the 'rock' part comes after - get ready to 'lep' around the kitchen! This version is not the definitieve version, you would need a ROCK band to bring out its potential!

6
Your Song   (romantic ballad)   4:18
Play Part  -   Play Full  -   Song Page

A love song - a true experience. This started out as just an acoustic song but blossomed when orchestration was added. This version is about as perfect as I want - apart from not having a real orchestra, of course! Full of music. Have a good listen.

7
Angel Called Love   (world pop)   3:32
Play Part  -   Play Full  -   Song Page

An acoustic song, simple lyrics, unusual orchestration - pan pipes, flute and a lovely rhythm. A slightly strange song. Am not sure how it all came about.

8
Dancing Gang   (rock n′ roll)   3:58
Play Part  -   Play Full  -   Song Page

Rock 'n' roll with harmonies. A chance to blast out the singing. Nice guitar solo - a chance to let my hair down (before it all falls out!).

9
It′s No Use   (melodic blues)   4:42
Play Part  -   Play Full  -   Song Page

A simple blues song but with harmonies and a sus4 chord structure (on the dulcimer) making it sound different and unusual.

10
On A Saturday   (alternative)   4:35
Play Part  -   Play Full  -   Song Page

A song about the terrorist bombing atrocity in Omagh, Co Tyrone, Ireland, on Saturday 15th of August 1998. People were murdered. People were maimed. People were mentally scarred. An atrocity carried out by brutal thugs.

This is a strange song with bleak verses but with beautiful haunting choruses with strings. I wrote the melody on the day but it took a few years before I got suitable lyrics. Well worth a listen.

This is an orchestrated version. The original acoustic version is on track 14.

11
Springtime Blues   (jazzy blues guitar)   4:52
Play Part  -   Play Full  -   Song Page

This is an electric guitar improvisation track. Nothing was rehearsed. A 'one take' experience. THIS is what Lou does best - show off!

12
Singing High   (alternative)   6:06
  -   Play Part  -   Play Full  -   Song Page

This song is about the concentration camps during WW2. I heard a story of Jewish elders questioning whether god had abandoned them to extermination.

This is a bleak song. The music is a bit like a funeral march but well worth a listen. The words are important. This is one I am very proud of.

13
Baby Carrie  (orchestral)   4:07
Play Part  -   Play Full  -   Song Page

Originally hummed to a chord exercise. Beautiful but slightly unusual orchestral piece - includes electric guitar. Certainly not the norm.

14
On A Saturday (acoustic)   (alternative) 5:23
Play Low  -   Play Full  -   Song Page

A song about the terrorist bombing atrocity in Omagh, Co Tyrone, Ireland, on Saturday 15th of August 1998. People were murdered. People were maimed. People were mentally scarred. An atrocity carried out by brutal thugs.

This is a strange song with bleak verses but with beautiful haunting choruses with strings. I wrote the melody on the day but it took a few years before I got suitable lyrics. Well worth a listen.

This is the 'original' version - how the song was written. Just 1 voice and 1 acoustic guitar. Track 10 is an orchestrated version.
