The Nature Of Man (Human Evaluation)~ The UT Instinct ~Chapter 8: UT Group EmblemsIf this is your first visit to this site please read the Glossary Please note: there is an introduction and 17 chapters in this section. If you have not read the introduction and all the chapters preceeding this one you will not understand the points I am trying to make. To gain understanding you should start - at the beginning Chapter 0.
Emblems And The UT GroupThe rituals, ceremonies and emblems of the UT Group are very important, not because they are Truth, or rational, or have objective value, but merely because they signify the members of that UT Group as being members of that particular UT Group, and although they are purely symbolic, because of the UT Instinct they actually denote the value of a person ie if you wear the symbol of the Lowtribe you deserve the treatment the Lowtribe deserve. SYMBOLS ACTUALLY TAKE ON A MORAL SIGNIFICANCE. In times of conflict between UT Groups (or ANY interaction between UT Groups) these symbols, rituals and ceremonies take on a greater meaning, not only reinforcing the cohesion within the UT Group (only members are allowed to take part), but also exaggerates the difference between members of that UT Group and those of the opposing UT Group, or any non-member for that matter; while in time of ‘integration’ these symbols lose their importance so that there isn't an obvious value and moral clash, or a perceived demonstration of difference. One very clear and vivid example of this is in the north of Ireland, about 80 miles ‘up the road’ from where I am writing this. The Unionists who consider themselves as being British and who want to remain linked to Britain paint the edges of the roads red, white and blue (the colours of the British flag), and fly the British flag from as many lamp posts as they can, and, at the least excuse, take out their flags and wave them defiantly in the faces of the Nationalists (those who consider themselves as being Irish and who want the northern section of Ireland to be re-united to the south and to be ruled by the Irish government). When all is said and done the Unionists are more British than the British themselves. And, likewise, the Nationalists fly the Irish flag as often as possible, and are interested in things Irish more so than the people living in the south of Ireland who have self-rule. The Unionists look upon the northern Irish and their culture as being backward - not as civilised and decent as the ‘British’ way. And, surprise, surprise, the northern Irish look upon the Unionists and their culture as being backward and not as civilised and decent as the ‘Irish’ way. The vitally important thing to truly understand is that these are genuine and honest opinions. Usually, when we come across a conflict situation where we are not ‘neutral’ (though by now hopefully you should know that humans cannot be neutral at all!) we tend to explain the irrationality of it all by using the ridiculous notion that the ‘them’ are being hypocrites, thus somehow hiding the fact that the human is in essence an irrational, subjective, stupid bioent. For example, in the north of Ireland (though one could take other examples; East v West, Palestinians v Israelis etc) if one looks at the situation one should be able to immediately see that humans are irrational and illogical because one cannot have two opposing rational dogmatic positions (they both cannot be rational and yet totally incompatible) but by saying that one side is being hypocritical automatically means that both are rational, only in this case one side is ‘honest’ and the other is being ‘dishonest’. It is much easier for us to condemn the side we do not agree with of being dishonest rather than condemn the human species - the UT Group species - we belong to, as being stupid and irrational. But remember, THIS IS A SUBCONSCIOUS EVALUATION - an instinct. The only alternative, sometimes used with horrific results, to limiting the denigration of the species as a whole is to consider the other UT Group as not actually being a full member of the great ‘Human’ UT Group and thus one could explain their behaviour as being irrational - for the very fact that they are not ‘really fully human’ - not like us! - our perfect UT Group. This can be used to great effect when the differences are very pronounced eg difference in skin colour, but can also be used in situations where there is little visible difference to an outsider eg ethnic differences. This was used to great effect by the Nazis - the Jews were to be thought of as being sub-human and therefore any ‘inhuman’ treatment of them by the Nazis did not diminish their own view of themselves that they were superior and civilised. Also, by the use of the UT Symbols (both the swastika to demonstrate membership of the Nazi UT Group - the Hightribe, and the Star of David to indicate a member of the Jewish UT Group - the Lowtribe), tribal differences were reinforced and the ‘us’ and ‘them’ were very clearly visible. It was much easier to treat the Jews as inferior because the Star of David automatically put the Jews into the Lowtribe UT Group and the Nazis could justify mistreating them - for they ‘did not deserve equal treatment’. The logic is that it is WRONG to treat a non-member of an UT Group with equality. It would totally go against the very logic and raison d'etre of the UT Group system - it would destroy their exclusivity. If there was equality with non-members of the UT Group then the UT Group wouldn't be in existence. The presence of UT Groups automatically crate a situation of inequality. What is wonderful about these theories regarding the UT Instinct is that it not only explains how these two opposing sides have contradictory views which they genuinely hold to be true, but also explains how they, or even we, can judge the situation in such a way so as not to bring into question the lack of rationality of our species. In both cases these explanations are controlled by the UT Instinct. It is an instinct and therefore we cannot consciously see how we are being manipulated by our subjective ‘values’. Thus the ‘us’ truly believe that we are in the right and that the ‘them’ are in the wrong. The ‘us’ truly believe that we are being genuine and honest in the situation; whereas the ‘them’ are either being evil, stupid, hypocritical and dishonest. We can never be objective enough to see that we are all being stupid and irrational, and that the values, judgments etc of the ‘them’ are just as valid as the values etc of the us. Just as tribal emblems differentiate the differing tribes (and thus the differing levels of equality deserved); we differentiate based on the types of clothes, hairstyles, skin colour, height, weight, etc of our fellow (and not so fellow) human beings, though usually based on UT Groups rather than tribes. Once we can perceive a difference in ‘tribal’ clothing we can judge a person as regards their UT Group and therefore as regards how they ‘deserve’ to be treated. Wearing the ‘wrong’ clothes can get you killed - eg during a conflict one could actually say that a person was shot merely for wearing the wrong clothes (the enemy's uniform). In that example one could say that killing a person is morally acceptable, merely on account of that person wearing the wrong clothes. That is why ‘designer labels’ are so popular; it says that the person belongs to the ‘superior’, chic, wealthy, tasteful, sophisticated UT Group. Human beings are so stupid and irrational that they truly believe that merely a piece of cloth can define them. This is no different to tribal clothing (the nature of humans NEVER changes!) and explains why teenagers want to dress and look different from their ‘dull’ and ‘boring’ parents, and adults in general. If you wear the same clothes as your parents you are seen as being a member of the Parental UT Group - a fate worse than death for a teenager! The Author In A Skirt !To show just how totally irrational we are, and just how controlled we are by the UT Instinct (and UT Emblems) even with regard to just the type of clothes a person wears, take the following example. If I, being a 46 year old male (in 2002), put on a skirt and am interviewed by you what would you think? You would immediately have a totally different opinion of me, as compared to me dressed ‘normally’. Whether or not you agree with these theories, or whether or not you respected my opinion, you would certainly be more inclined to look upon me as being a degenerate, a warped person, a ‘weirdo’, a freak etc; not a person to be taken seriously. Your opinion of me while I am wearing trousers, and subsequent opinion of me while I am wearing a skirt would be different, and merely because of a piece of cloth! To change a pair of trousers into a skirt could be done by literally undoing the two inside seams of the legs and joining the two front parts and joining the two back parts and voila I would be wearing a skirt and your stupid, subjective, irrational opinion would have totally changed - not only concerning me, but also my values etc! There is a good chance that if you saw me being attacked while I was wearing a skirt you would consider that I deserved it - I had brought it upon myself! That is how the UT Instinct works. Further more, to demonstrate that we are even more irrational than that example shows (if that is possible you may say!), if I wore a kilt (a type of knee-length pleated skirt worn by males in Scotland) not only would I not be considered as being effeminate, but I would be thought of as being a ‘real man’! That is how pathetically irrational we are! I should add, lest the impression given so far is that I consider I am above such irrationalities (I wish it were so!) that I, although realising how irrational this opinion is; could not, and would not, ever, ever, be persuaded to wear a skirt! Though I would consider wearing a kilt! That is how irrational I am! There are so many UT Symbols a comprehensive list would, in itself, fill a large volume. Their ‘value’ will be in the way they either put a person in the ‘us’ UT Group - thus deserving respect etc or the ‘them’ UT Group - thus deserving contempt. The UT Symbols will both dictate - and justify - treatment of the other person.
