Introduction
The following arguments assume (and are thus based upon) these few simple understandings. If one says that 'Man is rational' one implies that both the THOUGHTS of Man are rational and the (subsequent) ACTIONS of Man are rational. To imply anything contrary to these simple understandings would imply that although Man is rational be behaves irrationally, and although Man is rational be THINKS irrationally - THAT is not logical.

Actions Speak Louder Than Words
Below are some examples of the behaviour of Man (they will be discussed later on in the document). I do not intend to go into much detail here - suffice to say that these are only points or lists. The 'nitty gritty' details are not relevant here.

The Nazis and their concentration camps
From the mid 1930s till their defeat at the end of World War Two the Nazis planned and partook in acts of genocide and did their very best to exterminate the Jews from the face of the earth. They considered the Jews as being sub-human. They considered the mentally retarded and physically disabled people as deserving annihilation. Also included in this list were the gypsies, the homosexuals and generally anyone who opposed the brutal rule of the Nazis.

They stole vast sums of money, property and art works. They organised forced slave labour with the intention of literally 'working people to death'. They designed quicker and more efficient methods of killing, and disposing of, people.

Slavery
From the very early 1500s to the mid 1800s slavery was a legal and profitable 'trade' in Europe and the Americas (that is not to say it was confined to that period of Man's history). Owners of large 'estates' (plantations) in the Caribbean and the Southern States of America arranged for people to be kidnapped from their tribes and homes in Africa and to be herded like cattle onto ships and be brought to the Americas to be sold as slaves.

The condition on the ships was appalling for these victims. They were overcrowded - to the point where many died on the long journey. They were treated as mere property - being thrown overboard if it became necessary to lighten the ship. It wasn't seen as killing a human being but merely killing an animal - a beast - just some pieces of cargo.

When they arrived in the Americas these victims were sold to the highest bidder and became the property of the new 'owner'. They had no rights and were harshly worked on the plantations so that the owner could become even more richer. The work was hard and the punishments were savage.

Even after they were given freedom after the American civil war for the most part the Blacks didn't have equal voting rights, equal education rights, equal legal (judicial) rights. Some blacks were still being lynched (hanged by a mob of white locals) in the southern states of the USA as recent as the 1920s, if not even more recently.

The Khmers Rouges In Cambodia
Between 1975 and 1978 Cambodia was 'ruled' by the Khmers Rouges and it's leader Pol Pot. The 'goal' of this 'communist' 'political' organisation was to clear the people from the cities and force them into the countryside to work. The regime intended to turn back time to an untechnological labour system and environment.

To be an intellectual brought death. To question the regime brought death. Education and learning was considered as being a bad influence on people and was abolished. It was nothing less than the attempted destruction of the civilisation of the nation.

Then the torturing began. Torturing centres were set up as the 'controlling' arm of the government. A person suspected of plotting against the government would be taken in for 'questioning' and although in most if not all cases they would be totally innocent, because of the torture, they would give names of 'fellow conspiritors'. When they had 'revealed' the names they would be taken out and killed.

The people who had been named would be picked up and tortured and then killed (after they had been forced to give names). It literally became a situation where the justification for torture grew stronger and stronger as more and more people were forced to give names upon names of totally innocent friends and neighbours. The number of people tortured just grew and grew and the names forced from these people just grew and grew. It was totally self-sustaining.

Throughout this political system of control photographers were employed by the government at these torture centres to capture the image of every individual who was 'processed' (went through the system). Every person who was tortured and killed was documented.

The Subjugation Of The Female Gender
Through the history of Man the male of the species has subjugated, controlled and exploited the female of the species - for his own purposes. For the most part the female became the property, and servant, of the male when she married. She had no rights of self-determination. She had little opportunity for education. She had little opportunity for self advancement. Her creativity was stiffled.

The male considered (and still does) the female of the species as being in existence solely for the purpose for the benifit of the male. In very straightforward terms the females were seen as slaves to the males of the species. Even today (2006) in some countries the female is considered as being a 'non-person'.

Some Other Examples Of Human Behaviour

  • The conflict between the Israelis and the Palestinians in the Middle East
  • The attempted genocide of the Tutsis by the Hutus in Rwanda
  • The torture and maltreatment of captured soldiers and local inhabitants by Japanese soldiers during WW2 and also in China in the early 1900s.
  • The attack on the Twin Towers in New York on September 11th and the daily attacks, by car bombs and shootings, on the people of Iraq by Islamic militants.
  • The mutilations (crude amputations of feet, hands, arms, lips or ears) of civilians especially children in Sierra Leone in the 1990s and early 2000s by 'rebels' and 'insurgents', including the systematic rape of women and girls.
  • The 'civil war' in the Balkans in the late 20th century where each 'religious' faction carried out 'ethnic cleansing'.
The above is a VERY VERY short list of some human activities

If Humans Are Rational? - Face The Consequences.
If you are of the opinion that humans are rational then you are, in fact, saying that the Nazis were correct (rational) in thinking that Jews were inferior and that it was a reasonable goal to attempt to exterminate all Jews from Europe. You will also agree with the Nazis that the mentally retarded deserved to be killed, along with the gypsies, the homosexuals etc. Not only that, but you are actually saying that all the aims of the Nazis, in general, were rational AND correct.

If you are of the opinion that humans are rational then you are, in fact, saying that the Khmers Rouges were correct in attempting to drag Cambodia back into the pre-industrial age. You are saying that learning and education are to be discouraged, and are a bad influence on humans. You will be agreeing with the method of torturing totally innocent civilians for extracting names of other 'conspiritors' (totally innocent civilians) who were seen as attempting to overthrow the ruling system. You would have to consider all this madness as being rational - the actions of rational individuals.

If you are of the opinion that humans are rational then you are, in fact, saying that females are not equal to the male of the species. You are saying that the male was rational when he judged the female as deserving the treatment they have received for the past thousands of years. You agree with the subjugation of women and their abuse and exploitation. You also agree with the notion that females should be the property of the male and that they shouldn't have their own individual rights. (That would beg the question as to whether you considered females as being rational!).

If you are of the opinion that humans are rational then you are, in fact, saying that Blacks (and non-Whites, in general) are not equal to 'Whites' and that slavery was totally acceptable. You would be saying that it was totally rational for one human being to buy and sell another human being. You would be saying that it was rational for one human being to expect another human being to work all bes life for no pay whatsoever. (That would beg the question as to whether you considered Blacks as being rational!).

I could go on and on but that would just be repeating myself. Look at all the human activity in the 20th century (a century of endless conflict and injustice), for example, and realise that if you consider Man to be rational all the human behaviour would have to be considered as being rational. It would not only mean that the actions of Man were rational but also the thought processes which brought about all the conflict and injustice was rational - and correct!.

Although I have intention of arguing any point - there is no real purpose in that whatsoever - I understand that the thought processes of humans will automatically seek out excuses and that if I give one million examples of Man's irrational thoughts you will pick on one seemingly rational thought as if that would nullify the truth. I will just mention two points.

Firstly you may say that the people who were behaving unacceptably (eg the Nazis) were 'evil' thus somehow separating them from the 'rest of us'. In other words, that THEY are evil and thus not rational, BUT, the US being different from them can still be considered as being rational. I have dealt with that kind of pathetic subjective 'logic' in the main UT Instinct section but, apart from that, you would have to explain the following: what you mean by evil (other than you 'did not like their actions'), at what time did they become evil (eg did Heinrich Himmler become evil when he joined the Nazi party, or when he was born, or when he was promoted, or when he first met Hitler, or etc etc etc), and also did his irrationality make him evil or did his evilness make him irrational. In simple terms the use of the adjective 'evil' is pathetic AND meaningless.

Secondly you may feebly try and use the excuse that it was only those specific situations and people involved who were irrational - thus attempting to say that everyone else was rational. In the case of the gender 'conflict', that one 'item' would include a fairly large majority of the males of the species as being irrational. That would imply that nearly 50 per cent (that's half) of the human population were irrational (that wouldn't even be taking into account all the other examples above). It would be ridiculous to say that Man is rational when it would be fairly obvious that at least nearly 50 per cent of the species were irrational.

Summary
So if you do consider that Man is rational the consequences are inescapable - and damning. You will be saying that all the civil wars, all the 'ordinary' wars, all the racism, all the sexism, all the 'political' conflicts, all the torture and injustice, all the greed, all the religious conflicts, all the bigotry . . . ALL THESE THINGS DEMONSTRATE THAT MAN IS RATIONAL. It is so obvious that Man is NOT rational that in fact no arguement is necessary. It should be the case that you should have to demonstrate, and argue, that Man, somehow, is rational - if you dare.

FACTS
The FACT is - Man is NOT rational. No biological entity can ever be rational. This is reality. The fact that you may not like that truth does not alter anything. Truth doesn't need your agreement or approval.

Sometimes people say that more education will prevent racism, or bullying, or drug abuse, or sexual abuse, or alcohol abuse and this theory is fantastically simple - BUT totally useless! In the first place if Man was rational be wouldn't have to be taught that drug taking was totally stupid, that bullying was not acceptable, that all others are equal, as regards deserving respect, and that Jews are equal etc.

Who, in their right mind, would ever consider that giving a book explaining the artistic creations, inventions and scientific theories formulated by Jewish people would have made the Nazis realise that the Jews were equal and deserving equal treatment? It would have been a waste of time. And why? Because Man is not rational. If Man was rational equality, as such, would be self-evident.

Did you ever wonder why Man keeps making the same mistakes throughout history? It is for the very reason that Man CANNOT learn from bes mistakes. These mistakes will go on as long as this species is in existence because Man is a bioent, and thus cannot be anything other than irrational. Man will NEVER learn. It is not even a case where there could be learning - Man's irrationality and mental 'bigotry' is a natural thought process. If we were to change it would mean our NATURE would have to change - that is just not possible. Man's NATURE has never changed and can never change and will never change. AND even if our nature changed the fact is that no bioent can be rational, no matter what, no matter where, no matter when. (There are no Spocks anywhere, on earth, or in the universe).

There is one thing I must add, and this is because of my own experience. Although our nature cannot change, I have more than once caught myself stupidly judging a person based on irrational (UT Instinct) criteria and in those cases understanding the UT Instinct has immediately made me realise how stupid my judgment was. Nevertheless it did not stop this initial prejudice - it was a case of being actually AWARE of it.
