Irish Phrases and English Translation

  (I am going to the shop)
Tá=is   mé=me   ag dul=going   go dtí=to   an=the   siopa=shop
Go raibh maith agat
   (Thank you)
Go raibh='is/exist'   maith=good   agat=with/to you
Conas tá tú?
   (How are you?)
Conas=how   tá=is/are   tú=you
Tá mé go maith.
   (I am well.)
Tá=is/am    mé=me   maith=good
Tá mé ag foghlaim gaeilge.
    (I am learning Irish.)
Tá mé=I am   ag foghlaim=learning   gaeilge=Irish
Anois, tá mé ag caint gaeilge.
   (Now I am speaking Irish.)
Anois=now     tá mé=I am   ag caint=speaking   gaeilge=Irish

Louis is ainm dom. Cád is ainm duit?
   (Louis is my name. What is your name? )
is=is    ainm=name     dom='to me'/mine    Cád=what?      duit=to you
An bhfuil tú ag rith?
    (Are you running?)
An bhfuil=are?    tú=you     ag rith=running
Is ea (sea), tá mé ag rith go dtí an teach.
   (Yes, I am running to the house.)
Is ea=yes   tá mé=I am   ag rith=running   go dtí=to   an=the   teach=house
'Is ea' can be joined together to create the slightly shorter word 'sea'
Tá an aimsir go breá mar tá sé te.
   (The weather is fine because it is warm.)
Tá=is  an=the  aimsir=the weather  go breá=fine  mar=because  tá sé=it is  te=warm
