E A E A E A E
Wait, you're going out of my life
                    F#m B F#m B
I'm going out of my mind, don't leave me behind.

Wait, don't leave me all on my own
Come back and make this a home, and don't start to roam.

Break1:
A Am E A
And then the hours go by, and I still wonder why, you've gone away
A Am E F#m B
And then the minutes go, but still I do not know, why you didn't stay.

Wait, come back and give me a chance
You mean so much to me, please come back and see.

Lead guitar break:

Break2:
A Am E A
And then the hours go by, and I still wonder why, you've gone away
A Am E
And then the minutes go, but still I do not know, why you didn't stay.
B Bm
I don't know where you've gone, but I still linger on
A Am
With the thought that you'll return someday to me, and then I'll say
      E B
Don't go away, don't go away.

E
Wait, you're going out of my life
I'm going out of my mind, don't leave me behind.

Song Information

For awhile in the mid 1970s I was in a band in Dublin. The name of the band was Outrage (Brian T., Naged A., Ken K., and myself) and we played a lot of early Beatles songs so I was naturally inclined to write a few 60s beat songs. I grew up with Beatles music so it was fairly natural for me to do so.

This type of song was difficult for me to record because the harmonies were recorded separately rather than as they really should be - all together. Songs with orchestral backing are much easier. A ‘real’ beat group would do this song much more justice. I think it should have been a bit faster anyway.
