Rainy Day (folk pop) - 2:59 |
RAINY DAY - (key D major)
Words & Music 1979 by Louis Gogan
Copyright (c) 1979 Louis Gogan
D A G D
It's been another rainy day, and you are going far away
Em A Em A A7
Raindrops on my window pane, and tears coming from my eyes
D A G D
The drops are falling at their will, and splashing on my window sill
Em A Em A D
Drowning out the sound of passing steps, and tears coming from my eyes
Chorus :
F#m Bm Em A F#m
I can only weep and grieve, and huddle on my own
F# Bm B7 E E7 A A7
Will you not return to me, and clear away the skies
Clouds roll by but mine remain, locked within my raindrop chains
Nothing here but broken promises, and tears coming from my eyes
The sun shines down but not on me, the raindrops are my company
Loneliness and cold for me, and tears coming from my eyes
Chorus :
I can only weep and grieve, and huddle on my own
Will you not return to me, and clear away the skies
It's been another rainy day, and you are going far away
Raindrops on my window pane, and tears coming from my eyes
And tears coming from my eyes
And tears coming from my eyes

Song Information
The words to this song were not inspired by any personal situation at all and merely accompany the melody.
I don't write 'folk' songs. I don't even like folk songs - usually.
To save my self respect and dignity I classify this song as being a 'folk pop' song - which is practically a 'pop' song. 'Folk' = boring. 'Pop' = good. This song is 99.99% pop and 0.01% folk. That's acceptable - just about!
To be honest - I actually like this song very much - the 'pop' bits, of course. The 'folk' bits - I don't know how they got in, but don't tell anyone they are anything to do with me!
